Pre-contamination management of unpolluted celery

After the autumn and winter cultivation of celery in greenhouses, the temperature tends to be higher, sunlight is more abundant, and soil evaporation increases significantly. Two to three days after planting, it's important to water the crops twice to help the seedlings establish themselves and encourage new shoot growth. Once the heart of the celery leaves turns green, it signals that the seedling stage is nearing completion. At this point, watering should be carefully managed, and the seedlings should be protected for about 7 to 10 days to ensure their stability. When the leaves start to unfold widely, the seedling phase can be considered complete. Once the plants are established, water them when the soil begins to dry out, checking for moisture levels. Typically, watering every 4 to 6 days is sufficient. After each irrigation, make sure to loosen the soil to improve aeration and prevent compaction. When the celery reaches a height of 33 to 35 centimeters, increase the frequency of watering to keep the soil consistently moist. To support healthy growth, apply approximately 100 to 200 kilograms of bean cake per 667 square meters, or use 10 kilograms of urea, 15 kilograms of ammonium sulfate, or 15 kilograms of potassium sulfate mixed with water. A final frozen water application should be done in early November. Once the soil dries out, you can reduce watering as needed. Celery has strong cold tolerance. If temperatures drop below 0°C, the stems and leaves may freeze, but they can still recover once temperatures rise again. After the fall of greenhouse-grown celery in autumn and winter, temperatures gradually decrease. To promote optimal growth, maintain daytime temperatures between 18–22°C, nighttime temperatures between 13–18°C, and soil temperatures around 15–20°C. Depending on local climate conditions, choose the appropriate time to remove the plastic cover. After the first frost, if daytime temperatures drop to around 10°C and nighttime temperatures fall below 5°C, it’s time to cover the front roof of the greenhouse with plastic film. In the northeastern region, this typically occurs around mid-October.
