How to prevent corn borers

Chemical control should be implemented during the early stage of corn heading. When 100 corn stalks contain 4,000 or more heads, and if 50% or more of the stalks are infested, it's time to apply chemical treatment. Suitable insecticides include 10% imidacloprid wettable powder diluted at 1,000 times, or 20% Confodic® concentrate diluted at 8,000 times. Alternatively, 70% Amylolique dispersant can be used at a dilution ratio of 20,000 to 25,000 times, or 0.36% green plant matrine aqueous solution diluted at 500 times. Other options include 10% beta-cypermethrin EC diluted at 2,000 times, 2.5% cyhalothrin diluted at 2,500 times, or 50% cyhalothrin diluted at 2,000 times. It is recommended to rotate insecticides periodically to prevent resistance development and ensure effective pest management. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for safe and proper application.
