Geographical distribution: The gecko is mainly distributed in the subtropical region near the Tropic of Cancer in Asia. Distributed in China in Guangdong, Guangxi, Hong Kong, Fujian and Yunnan. According to surveys in eight regions in Guangxi, except for the Guilin region, there are 228 townships (towns) or villages within 48 counties (cities) under the jurisdiction of the remaining seven regions. In recent years, it has been found that there are also distributions in the northeast Changbai Mountain area. Taiwan Province also has records.
In addition to China's distribution, it is distributed abroad from Bangladesh in the west, to countries in Indochina in the east, to Indonesia in the south, and in the Philippines. It is also distributed in Southeast Asia, Vietnam, Thailand and Laos.
Before 1967, Gecko had abundant resources, with an average annual output of 240,000 pairs and a maximum annual output of 408,000 pairs. In the early 1960s, the annual acquisition volume was only 53,000 pairs, and the output increased from 1963 to 1965, with an average annual acquisition. The amount of about 378,000 pairs; 1968-1976 production remained at about 150,000 pairs; after 1978, the resources of the giant gecko rapidly decline, the average annual acquisition of about 38,600 pairs.
Tang Yezhong et al.'s survey of giant geckos in the Guangxi Rui Nature Reserve in 1995 showed that more than 2,400 giant geckos have been killed and killed each year in the Hurray Nature Reserve.
Before and after 1998, the number of domestic giant geckos fell drastically and was on the verge of extinction.
From May to June of 2008, Xu Yongli et al.'s survey of Nonggang Nature Reserve found that there are more large gecko in Nonggang, and there are fewer distributions of Lushan and Luan films. It is estimated that the population density is 13.45 pairs/km2.
From 2008 to 2010, observations of the Gecko in Guangxi Nonggang National Nature Reserve showed that the number remained stable.
