Chicken manure is a complex mixture that includes leftover feed, wood shavings, feathers, small amounts of broken egg yolk, and undigested feed particles. It also contains unabsorbed nutrients. When analyzed, the dry matter of chicken manure typically contains 31% to 33% crude protein, but more than half of this is non-protein nitrogen, such as uric acid, urea, creatine, and ammonia. In addition, it contains some natural crude fiber from the bedding material, like straw or sawdust.
Due to its high nutritional value, chicken manure can be an excellent feed source for cows, especially dairy cows. It serves as a great raw material when combined with pellet feed. Using chicken droppings in feed formulation not only provides a low-cost feed option for dairy cattle but also creates a mutually beneficial cycle between poultry and livestock farming. However, raw chicken manure contains parasite eggs, harmful substances, and pathogens, making it unsuitable for direct feeding to cows.
To make it safe and nutritious, it must be processed using professional feed fermenters, such as the Golden Baby II Fermenter. The process involves mixing chicken manure (about 50%) with corn flour, soybean meal, rapeseed cake, and bran. A specific amount of Golden Baby II starter culture is added, and water is adjusted to around 60%. After 3–4 days of fermentation, the mixture becomes a safe, nutrient-rich feed that can be pelleted for easier feeding.
Using this fermented feed can reduce the cost of dairy cow feed by over 50%, bringing it down to just 0.15–0.20 yuan per kilogram. More importantly, it has been shown to increase milk production in dairy cows, making it a highly effective and economical solution for farmers looking to improve productivity while maintaining sustainability.
