Steps:

1. Carefully check that the piping connections are correct and that the piping is intact and airtight;

2. Unscrew the filling sealing cap at the front end of the evaporator of the anesthesia machine, slowly pour the anesthetic along the central sealing screw (see the diagram attached to the evaporation canister during the pouring process), and observe the liquid level marking on the front of the evaporator at any time. Make sure that the anesthetic liquid level is between the upper and lower scale lines. After the anesthetic is installed, lock and seal the sealing cap;

3. Switch the three-way valve switch to ensure that the airflow from the anesthesia evaporator exits the anesthesia induction box (at this point, the switch should point in the direction leading to the anesthesia mask);

4. Check if the anesthesia machine evaporator is off (rotate the dial so that the “OFF” or “O” position is aligned with the “∣” mark on the front of the evaporator);

5. Connect the air pump power supply, and turn on the air pump switch to rotate and adjust the air source valve at the front end of the oxygen flow meter to make the output gas reach the required flow rate (typically adjusted to 500-700ml/min for rats, generally for mice) Adjusted to 300-500ml/min), the required gas flow rate is mainly determined by the animal's species, weight and animal status;

6. Open the evaporator: while pressing the control button, turn the dial counterclockwise to align the concentration value of the required anesthetic with the “∣” mark on the front of the evaporator, and release the control button. The corresponding value is anesthesia. The percentage concentration of gas in the mixed gas;

7. After the induced concentration is adjusted (the general induced concentration is adjusted to 3-4%), the anesthetic is filled with the induction box. After about 1 minute, the animal is placed in the induction box, and then the induction box is closed, waiting for the animal to be completely anesthetized (this process is required) 2-3 minutes). The animal can be completely anesthetized by gently shaking the induction box. If the animal body is turned upside down and does not attempt to return to its lying position, the animal is completely anesthetized;

8. Convert the three-way valve switch to ensure that the airflow from the anesthesia machine evaporator is connected to the anesthesia mask (the switch should point in the direction of the induction box);

9. After maintaining the concentration adjustment (mainly maintained at a concentration of 2-2.5% for rats; generally maintain a concentration of 1-1.5% for mice), remove the animal from the induction box and place the head/nose in an anesthesia mask. And check whether the animal is in full anesthesia (the animal's paws or tail can be pinched with two fingers. If the animal does not respond, it indicates that the animal has been completely anesthetized, and surgery can be started at this time);

10. After the animal experiment is completed, close the evaporator (operation is the same as step 4), keep the animal breathing in pure oxygen for about 5-10 minutes, in order to facilitate the animal to wake up quickly.


Special note : In order to eliminate the cause, the original anesthetic in the anesthesia machine evaporator can be drained to test our isoflurane effect. The steps are as follows:

1. Unscrew the sealing cap to expose the drain sealing screw, reverse the sealing cap and use the groove at the top of the sealing cap to loosen the sealing screw, and put the discharged medicament into a labeled suitable container for subsequent processing; Tightly seal the screw; restore the sealing cap.

2. Fully open the anesthesia machine evaporator (5%), pass pure oxygen or air (gas flow can be between 500-1000ml/min), maintain for about 10 minutes, completely empty the residual anesthetic of the evaporator, then Then press "Operation Steps" to continue using.
