Xinjiang's First Transgenic Cotton Variety Breeds Successfully

Xinjiang's first transgenic insect-resistant cotton - "National Resistance to Xinluzhong No. 31" has recently been approved by the National Cotton Varieties Approval Committee. The successful breeding of this species is a new breakthrough in the history of cotton breeding in Xinjiang.

The "National Anti-Xinluzhong No. 31" was completed by the Upland Cotton Breeding Research Group of the Institute of Economic Crops, Xinjiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences. According to reports, this species has very prominent features: high resistance to cotton bollworm, resistance to verticillium wilt, resistance to wilt disease; high yield, high photosynthetic rate, low abscission rate of bells, developed root system, high utilization of fertilizer and water, bell, precocious. Compared with the currently widely grown Zhongmian 35, the insect-resistant cotton increased by 7.8%; the fiber velvet was 31 to 32 millimeters long, which was significantly better than the Zhongmian 35 and reached the high-quality cotton standard.

Xinjiang has now become China's largest cotton producing area. With the increase of cotton planting area, pest control has become increasingly prominent.
