Touch-sensing method After starting the vehicle, if the engine feels unstable or trembling, check for missing cylinder. First, the engine is turned off, and the insulation porcelain of the spark plug is touched by the cylinder by hand. If the temperature is significantly lower, then the cylinder spark plug is not working properly.
Visual inspection method to check the spark plug insulator for cracks or damage, whether the electrode loose, ablation, the center electrode and porcelain body cavity with or without carbon deposition, grease and so on. Spark plug operating conditions can be judged by these appearance phenomena.
The central electrode of the spark plug, which is working properly with the inspection method, should be reddish-brown and the rust color of the threaded end face. Spark plugs are black due to coke deposition. Most of them are caused by poor working of the cylinder, and a cylinder does not work. The spark plugs will be flooded with accumulated oil, ie, "drained cylinders".
Off-fire analysis method This method can also separate high-voltage line method and short-circuit method. When the engine is running at low speed, remove the cylinder high-voltage line to make a fire test. If the engine speed drops, the vehicle shakes, indicating that the cylinder spark plug works well; if the operation does not change significantly, it indicates that the cylinder spark plug is not working properly. This method is not suitable for high-energy ignition vehicles.
The spark-over test method will place the removed spark plug on the cylinder head. Under the condition that the high pressure and the fire are ensured, the high-voltage center line is pressed against the spark plug upper body wiring nut and the engine is started by a starter to test the fire. If the spark is weak, it means that there is a serious short circuit between the two poles of the spark plug; if the spark is not in the center, it means that the spark plug has too much carbon or grease; if there is a flashover between the porcelain body and the cylinder head, it indicates the leakage of the insulating porcelain.
